This is my latest installtion related to the Adornment Series. I was invited to do another piece to the annual Art Outside Exhibition at the PAFAC. With the help of the Center director, Jake Senuik, we were able to create a piece that expanded my own ideas of an installation. He really made it "involve" an entire area making it much more dramatic. The Art Outside Exhibition is collection of art placed in Websters Woods on the grounds of the Art Center. It opened June 18 and runs through the summer.

This is the second installation of the Adornment series. I rushed it up to have it ready to include in a grant application that I was submitting. As I have already mentioned, to me it seems contrived and deliberate not inspired and spontaneous. But still, there it is...I already have another installation in the works.... In my mind these art interaction represent a budding sense of art appreciation where there may not have been any before. That is my goal. To expose an unsuspecting audience to art and allow the connection between art and veiwer happen as a unexpected surprise.

I received this request a couple of days ago....How am I to respond to such an incredible request?...The poignancy is overwhelming...
"...I saw one of your wood cut installations off of Hwy 203 on my way from Carnation. My family is moving to Lake Marcel soon - building permits take time. I want to talk to you about my son. He's got a progressive disease that will most likely end this life at a young age. I would like a wood cut done now to honor him. I would also like to be able to put some of his ashes into a secret compartment you will add (if possible). I have a portion of cedar log I would like to use. I guess this is my way of getting ready for the inevitable..."

This is the completed installation at the Port Angeles Fine Art Center for the ART OUTSIDE Exhibition 2010. Eighteen artists were invited to do outdoor installations in Websters Woods on the grounds of the Art Center. It was great to be invited to be part of the "happening" and there were a lot of amazing work created for it. My piece was done on the remnants of a Madrona tree that had been in the court yard of the Center. It mysteriously died and pieces of it were scattered through out the woods. It was a perfect opportunity for a "special edition" of the Offerings Project. My piece was well received and I hope to be a regular at this event.
